PhD and Postdoctoral Positions in Foundation Models for Robotic Applications
University of Liverpool is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals for PhD and Postdoctoral positions in Foundation Models for Robotic Applications. Our research group is dedicated to advancing the state-of-the-art in robotics by leveraging the latest developments in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Deadline
- [Closed] For PhD position: June 6, 2024. A fully-funded international PhD studentship is available for outstanding candidates.
- For Postdoc position: August 15, 2024.
Research Focus
Successful candidates will work on developing and applying foundation models to improve robotic perception, decision-making, and interaction capabilities. The research will involve:
- Designing novel architectures and algorithms for robotic tasks.
- Integrating large-scale pre-trained models into robotic systems.
- Experimenting with real-world robotic platforms.
- Publishing findings in top-tier conferences and journals.
Qualifications
For PhD Candidates
- A strong Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and robotics.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
For Postdoctoral Researchers
- PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven track record of research excellence and publications in top-tier conferences and journals.
- Extensive experience with machine learning and robotic systems.
- Strong programming skills and experience with relevant software tools.
- Ability to work independently and lead research projects.
- Experience with foundation models such as GPT, BERT, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with robotic platforms and simulators (e.g., ROS, Gazebo).
