THE CELSIUS TEMPERATURE SCALE

In the celcius temperature scale was proposed by the Swedish astronomer Celsius. On this scale the fundamental interval between the fixed points where pure ice melts and water boils --- the ice and steam points respectively --- is divided into 100 equal degrees "Centigrade". The ice point being fixed at 0 Degrees and the steam point a 100 Degrees.

Anders Celsius (1701-44) --- Swedish astronomer and mathematician. Wrote numerous and important works on astronomy, but is best remembered as the inventor of the centigrade thermometer.
