SUMMARY:School Seminar Series
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Pawel Dlotko: Geometry and topology: tools to understand materials, bones, alloys (and more)...\n\nIn this talk we will define and present various ways to define and\n\ncompute persistent homology: a robust summary of shapes that can be\n\nefficiently computed. We will use it to summarize various porous\n\nmaterials We will build stable persistent-homology-based descriptors\n\nof zeolites, metal-organic frameworks and other nanoporous materials.\n\nWe will see how it help to understand trabecular bone structure and\n\ncan be used in clinical practice. We will also use it as a high\n\ndimensional descriptor of dynamics and see how it help to understand\n\nphase separation in alloys. All the used concepts will be intuitively\n\nintroduced, so no prior knowledge is required. We will also show how\n\nto use the state of the art implementation used in this type of\n\ncomputations.\n\nhttps://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/research/seminars/abstract.php?id=463
