SUMMARY:School Seminar Series
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Andre Hernich: Information Integration and Reasoning under Expressive Constraints\n\nThere is a fruitful interaction between information integration and\n\nreasoning over (database or description logic) constraints. Information\n\nintegration is the problem of combining data from several sources into\n\na single database, called the global database, providing users with \n\na unified view on the data sources. It comes in two flavours, one where\n\nthe global database has to be materialized, and one where the global\n\ndatabase is merely virtual. Recent approaches model the mapping from \n\nthe data sources to the global database by a set of constraints on the\n\npossible global databases. Answering a query on the global database thus\n\namounts to checking if the query is entailed by the source data and \n\nthe constraints. \n\n\n\nIn this talk, I'll give a short overview on recent approaches to solve\n\nthe entailment problem efficiently for "practically" relevant classes \n\nof constraints and queries.\n\nhttps://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/research/seminars/abstract.php?id=331
