SUMMARY:MIF Series
DESCRIPTION:Gregory McColm: Using Symmetry-Based Equivalence Relations in Classifying Crystallographic Structures\n\nOne way to classify geometric figures - including figures of interest to crystallographers - is to fix a hierarchy of groups acting on the underlying geometric space, and from these define a hierarchy of equivalence relations arising from these groups. We look at some of the more popular groups acting on Euclidean spaces, with some kinds of figures popular among crystallographers. Time permitting, we look at some variants within this classification system.\n\nhttps://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/research/seminars/abstract.php?id=1385
