Here is a list of methodological and technological resources to help Agentcities members to use ontologies in their application in a correct and effective manner.
Here is a list of tools that Agentcities members might find useful. If you are using a tool which you would like to recommend, please email the details to the webmaster.
- WebODE: WebODE is an advanced ontological engineering workbench that provides varied ontology related services, and gives support to most of the activities involved in the ontology development process, such as: ontology editing, collaborative creation of ontologies, ontology import from WebODE XML, X-Carin and export to WebODE XML, RDF and RDFS, X-Carin, OIL, and Prolog.
WebODE is available at http://delicias.dia.fi.upm.es/webODE/
- Protégé-2000: Protégé-2000 is an ontology editor and a knowledge-base editor.Protégé-2000 is also an open-source, Java tool which provides an extensible architecture for the creation of customized knowledge-based tools. It allows the import and export from/to RDF and RDFS.
It is downloadable from http://protege.stanford.edu/index.html
- Ontology bean generator: The beangenerator permits the creation of java files representing
ontologies that can be used in the JADE environment. The beangenerator
is implemented as a plug-in for Protégé-2000
Protégé-2000 and the beangenerator can generate FIPA/JADE compliant ontologies from XML, RDF(S) and
and Protégé projects.
The bean generator is downloadable as Protégé-2000 plug-in from http://www.swi.psy.uva.nl/usr/aart/ontobean/index.html

- The Ontoweb Ontology Roadmap provides an overview of current research developments in the ontology area. In particular, it contains information concerning existing ontologies, methodologies, tools and languages for building ontologies, and ontology-based applications.
