The main aim of EATCS is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and results among
theoretical computer scientists as well as to stimulate cooperation between
the theoretical and the practical community in computer science.
As a member of the EATCS Council I will:
- promote wider EATCS participation in events related to the Theory of Computing
including conferences, workshops, schools, theory days, etc.
This includes ongoing discussion on what are the best means for our community to
stimulate meaningful progress in our field,
- discuss ways to promote our work outside of our community including other
research fields, research councils, national computing organisations (e.g., BCS in the UK,
also recently formed Algorithms-UK netwowrk), industry, and media,
- advocate for dedicated use of modern communication tools including social networks
(Twitter, Facebook, ...) to support efficient communication and deeper engagement within EATCS community,
- monitor relevant aspects of education including foundation and computing courses in schools and universities.
