Northwich Holy Tinity lies in the town of Northwich in the centre of Cheshire. It was within the township of Castle Northwich, in turn part of Witton Chapelry in the parish of Great Budworth. Witton chapelry became a separate ecclesiastical parish in 1723. Witton chapelry included the chapelry of Hartford which itself became a separate ecclesiastical parish in 1825, taking with it part of the township of Castle Northwich. Other new ecclesiastical parishes in the area of the town of Northwich in our period were Lostock Gralam in 1842 and Dane Bridge in 1846. Northwich Holy Tinity church was built by the Weaver Navigation Trustees in 1842, under an act of Parliament, as one of three churches intended for the use of watermen on the River Weaver. Although in some ways outside the parochial structure, the advowson was vested in the bishop of Chester. Northwich Holy Tinity became a parish in 1929, when the marriage registers begin. There are no burials. The population of Castle Northwich township in 1841 was 746 and in 1871 1,650 people
